I spent the first couple of holiday weeks in a dull dysphoric stupor. ("Dysphoric" isn't a bona fide English word; I invented it. Means "drifting aimlessly". From Greek. Now I'll stop being a showoffing (there's another new word) jerk.) Am presently working in the Comp Lab, making sure evil people don't steal the equipment. (Or reasonably sure, at least.) Anyway, here's a cool URL for you. This pretty much encapsulates what I think about Web design. (My site doesn't follow some of the guidelines. So sue me. *sigh*) It's at CNet's Builder.com. Also, the latest version of the tank AVI here(about 460K...).
Anyway, here's another treat for those who liked my last update. :) View a very short AVI of the same hovertank here(339K). May make a longer clip (Phantom Menace trailer beware! :) sometime.
View Hovertank rendering (tank.jpg; 36K) If viewing the image in Netscape, be sure to set your display Color Depth to 24-bit or 32-bit (not sure about 24-bit, might or might not work) for best results. MSIE integrates with Windows better so it doesn't seem to have this problem. If you see "contour lines" on the image, you know Color Depth is giving trouble. Well, that's all for now. Exams finish on 28th, so I'll just disappear until then. Adios! :)
The following is the official logo of the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (which is very kindly providing space for this webpage, since I'm one of its students) : ![]() It used to have "an exalted place" at the top of the SoC webpage. However, some time ago a very observant student posted on the departmental NNTP server that the logo resembles a blue penguin (Linux, anyone?) carrying a yellow surfboard (presumably to go websurfing?). Since then, the poor penguin has faced "relegation" to the bottom of the SoC webpage, replaced by the NUS crest, for reasons unknown (or maybe not). In the next few weeks, I'm planning to start a "Save the Penguin!" campaign to get the penguin back to its rightful place. Watch this space... P.S. Archives containing old news are up. P.P.S.Quote of the day: "I'm about to drop the hammer and dispense some indiscriminate justice!" - "Terranboy" mp3 - available from Fooky's page here. This page was created with pico, the UNIX text editor. :) |
